Dr Tony Appleton BDS DPDS

Principal Dentist

Dr Tony Appleton BDS DPDS Dental Surgeon
Tony and wife Lisa met while dental students at Sheffield University and qualified together in 1986. They have worked together ever since, owning and developing very successful practices on both sides of the world! They are now delighted to be settled in to The Gunyah and to be enjoying life on the beautiful Central Coast.
Tony loves his dentistry and continues to expand his knowledge and experience at every opportunity. With a passion for technology and computers, he was an early user of CAD/CAM systems and over his career has built up a wealth of experience providing CEREC™ and E4D restorations. He has also been called upon to lecture and mentor in CAD/CAM Dentistry in the UK, Channel Islands and Australia.
Having completed postgraduate training in endodontics (root canal treatments), advanced restorative work and dental implants Tony has developed his dental skills to such a level that he has a loyal following of dentists who refer their patients to him. He also regularly travels to Queensland to provide dental practices with endodontic services. Tony has also lectured and mentored fellow dentists in endodontics. He is a member of The Australian Society of Endodontology.
Tony is always keen to work within the principles of biomimetic and minimally-invasive dentistry, preserving as much healthy tooth substance as possible when restoring teeth. His advanced skills with CEREC™ have enabled him to utilize this technology to help create long lasting, biocompatible restorations.
Tony is a father of three and since they have flown the nest finds he has a little more time to enjoy his hobbies of sailing and wildlife photography.

Dr Lisa Appleton BDS

Partner

Lisa Appleton BDS Dental Surgeon
As the daughter of a dentist and wife of one too, Lisa’s career has always been a family affair! Together with her husband Tony, Lisa has driven the development and expansion of their dental practices in the UK and Australia, constantly improving the services and quality of care available to their loyal patients.
Unfortunately Lisa has been struggling with ongoing musculoskeletal problems for over two years and has now had to acknowledge that her dentistry days are over. She medically retired at the end of 2018 but will remain as a non-practising partner at Gunyah Dental.
Lisa thanks all of her patients for their loyal support over the years. She has enjoyed being involved in the healthcare of so many people and it was with a heavy heart that Lisa made the difficult, but unavoidable decision, to retire.
Lisa has three adult children – a son Nick, and twins Tristan and Georgia
Lisa enjoys photography and has found a new interest in genealogy, tracing her UK ancestors all the way back to the 1500s. Lisa has also uncovered a great, great aunt who moved with her miner husband from Newcastle, England to Weston, NSW in 1912 so is now feeling even more at home here in NSW!
